Onboarding - How to Create Your First Farm Profile

Welcome to Pigax! This onboarding guide walks you through the step-by-step process to set up your farm quickly and efficiently.

This is a one-time process that lays the foundation for everything you do on the platform and allows you to start using the Pigax software.
Follow the steps below to complete your onboarding

Step 1: Set Up Pig Housing

Before you can add pigs, you need to create pig pens. A pig pen is where your pigs are housed, and it allows you to organize your pigs by group, age, breed, or production stage. Properly setting up pens and groups helps you keep track of capacity, manage hygiene routines, and monitor growth progress more easily.

You will begin by specifying how many pig pens you want to create.

  1. Click the dropdown under "How many Pig pens will you like to add".

  2. Select the number of pens you wish to manage (e.g., 2, 3, 4...).

  3. Fill in a name for each pen, such as Breeding Pen, Nursery, or Pen A.

  4. Click Next to proceed.

Step 2: Add Pig Feed Settings

In this step, you will configure feed types you use on the farm. This allows you to track feeding schedules, monitor feed usage, and calculate feed cost per pig or group. Accurate feeding records are essential for budgeting, planning, and improving overall farm efficiency. Follow these steps on the onboarding to add pig feeds

1. Use the dropdown under "Select your currency type" to select your preferred currency.

2. Enter the following information for each type of feed:

    1. Feed Name: e.g., Maize Meal, Soybean, Pig Grower.

    2. Feed in Storage (Kg): Quantity you currently have.

    3. Feed Cost per Kilo: Price of the feed per kilogram.

3. Click "Add another Feed +" to enter additional feed types if needed.

4. When done, click Next to continue.

Step 3: Add Pigs

Once your pens are ready, the next step is to add your first pig record. This includes entering details like breed, sex, weight, and date of birth and it also enables you to record treatments, farrowing, sales, and any other activity linked to each pig. Follow these steps on the onboarding to add pigs.

1. Use the dropdown under "How many Pigs will you like to add to this farm?" to specify the number of pigs.

2. For each pig, fill out the following fields:

  1. Tag Number: Unique ID for each pig.

  2. Gender: Male or Female.

  3. Breeding Purpose: Indicate if this pig is for breeding.

  4. Date of Birth: Use the date picker to input DOB.

  5. Pig Pen: Assign the pig to one of the pens you created earlier.

Repeat this for every pig you've chosen to add.
